ACTIVITY AND DEATH<br />
Post Biblical Activities of <strong>Peter</strong>.<br />
Roman Catholic tradition holds that <strong>Peter</strong> was the first Pope of the Roman<br />
Churches. Since all reference to <strong>Peter</strong> abruptly stops soon after the<br />
confrontation of Paul and <strong>Peter</strong> over the circumcision we have to rely on<br />
traditions and later documents of church fathers.<br />
St. <strong>Peter</strong>'s First Epistle starts with the following statement:<br />
"The church that is in Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you: and<br />
so doth my son Mark" (5:13).<br />
If we take the statement on face value literally, <strong>Peter</strong> was in Babylon when<br />
he wrote the epistle.<br />
There are three Babylons.<br />
Babylon of Egypt<br />
First one is the small Egyptian town on the outskirts of Cairo. This is<br />
unlikely because we have no evidence any where old or late which<br />
indicate a possibility.<br />
