Thrust Bearings
1. Classification and Features
1. 1 Thrust ball bearings
Balls are arranged between a set of washers (a shaft
washer and housing washer) and the contact angle is 90.
Axial loads can be supported in only one direction and radial
loads cannot be supported. These bearings are unsuitable
for high speed operation. Table 1 shows the standard cage
models.
1. 2 Cylindrical roller thrust bearings
These bearings use cylindrical rollers and have single row,
double row, 3 row, 4 row, and also duplex types. Bearings
can support only axial loads and are suitable to heavy loads.
Their axial rigidity is high. Cages are the machined type.
