NUDE: Tell us background on the company and how you
got started.
GLD: We started the company a little over a year ago in
our hometown, Pittsburgh, Pa. We had no funding other
than about $1500, which we were able to come up with
between all of us. It was a long ride getting started. We
moved the business between each other's basements, and
could fit the entire business in a small cardboard box, so
we would joke around and call it “Business in a box.”
Slowly the boxes got larger and we were able to get our
first ofice in Pittsburgh’s Strip District. For the next few
months we worked out of that ofice before moving to
NYC in May 2016. Here we have added a few pieces to the
GLD team and are working on some bigger projects to
really grow the brand.
NUDE: So the company just moved out to New York
from Pittsburgh. Do you feel like the company will grow
more in NY?
GLD: We feel that New York is a great place for us to
continue growing the brand. We are still working on
scaling the logistics of the brand, but we see New York as
a great place to network and build a loyal community
through our events, pop-ups, and other projects coming
up this summer. We plan to continue expanding and
becoming more involved in the local culture. We’re
teaming up with Hot97 radio station and their “Whose
Next” hip hop concerts which provide us with an
opportunity to build a relationship with the local
community, in addition to discovering local talent.
