NUDE: Give us a little background on yourself and where you
grew up.
Jane: I was born and raised in Russia in Ekaterinburg city. I
studied to be a Fashion Designer, worked for a while as a designer
in China, and then started to work as a leading stylist in a
company that was dealing with stock photo - it takes third place
for best sales in the world. For the last four years, I’ve worked as a
Fashion Director at Stolnick Magazine. I create ideas, do
production and styling, but I also do side projects beyond the
magazine. About a month ago, I decided to try out photography -
these photos are my first shoot.
NUDE: What do you feel you can accomplish through
photography?
Jane: By shooting, I try to express my vision, the way my eyes
watch the world. Colors, tints, forms, textures, poses and
composition – we all see these things diferently, even watching
the same picture. This why styling doesn’t bring satisfaction all
the time. A photographer interprets stylist’s ideas diferently. The
camera lens is the last instance, and now it’s in my hands.
NUDE: What would you do if you knew you could never fail?
Jane: That’s already the way I live. Innate courage allows me not
to think about failure, and not to look down, like a gymnast
walking on the tightrope.
NUDE: If you were not in the photography scene, what would you
be doing right now?
