Madencılık to deliver material extracted from Şırnak Province. The company reported in 2015
that an initial dig had extracted 53 tonnes oflead and silver from the region. 7 We interviewed
Ahmet, an activist from the area, who said:
companies complicit in repression in kurdistan
“These mining companies operate without any law. They burn trees, they use chemicals that pollute the
Zap river, kill the fish, they use explosives and destroy the environment. They need the military bases for
security, so they can carry on doing this. We hope that people outside Kurdistan can resist against these
mining companies from their countries”.
