La Belle et la Bête (Beauty and the Beast)
Tuesday, July 19, 7 pm (YCPAC)
We are proud to present one of the most
beautiful films we have had the opportunity to
screen in La Belle et la Bête (Beauty and the Beast).
This French production is visually stunning. The
costumes and sets alone are enough to make
this film worth seeing. But they are backed
up with outstanding performances by Vincent
Cassel (The Beast) and Léa Seydoux (Belle).
They breathe new life into one of the most enduring
love stories in this can’t miss film! Also
screening will be the short film Todo lo demás
(Everything Else). Both are foreign language
films featuring English subtitles.
Big Voice
Thursday, July 21, 7 pm (YCPAC)
An inspiring feature documentary about a year in the life of a
demanding high school choir director who pushes his students to
become “one big voice”. This film celebrates the importance of the
fine arts to the educational process and the difference one teacher
can make in the lives of students. Big Voice has won awards
for Best Documentary Feature at the New Filmmakers of Los
Angeles Best of 2015 Awards, Best US Premiere Documentary at
the Heartland Film Festival, and Best Family Feature at the South
Dakota Film Festival.
Director Varda Bar-Kar will be in attendance and will answer your
questions following the film.
Lives Well Lived (Work in Progress)
Saturday, July 23, 10 am (YCPAC)
This outstanding documentary asks the
question “What is a Life Well Lived?” This
film uses interviews with people between 75
and 100 and asks them this crucial question.
While they all have lived well, the filmmakers
discover that the road to that elusive goal
is not always the same. A film filled with
wisdom and wit you won’t want to miss. This
film is screening as a work in progress.
