| <strong>CUT</strong> ANNUAL REPORT <strong>2011</strong><br />

SPECIAL EVENTS<br />

<strong>CUT</strong> celebrated 30 years of technological and social innovation, as well as the university’s heritage, from 19 to 23 September <strong>2011</strong>.<br />

<strong>CUT</strong>’s 30th anniversary coincided with the national Heritage Week, which was considered an important platform to celebrate the <strong>CUT</strong>’s<br />

heritage in the context of what it has contributed to the socio-economic development of the central region. During its existence, <strong>CUT</strong> has<br />

witnessed many changes and tremendous achievements in serving the central region of South Africa and the country as a whole. This<br />

milestone is a reflection of the University’s pursuit of quality education and academic excellence.<br />

The university celebrated its heritage by showcasing its intellectual products, as well as social and technological innovations.<br />

Here are just some of the highlights during the week long festivities:<br />

• Open Exhibition of social and technological innovations in each of the four faculties.<br />

• La Boule Competition (a French ball game), 20 September <strong>2011</strong>.<br />

• Basketball Hoop Shooting Competition, 20 September <strong>2011</strong>.<br />

• Beer and Tapas evening with Loyiso Gola, 20 September <strong>2011</strong>.<br />

• Titanium processing with direct metal sintering seminar, 21 September <strong>2011</strong>.<br />

• Celtic vs. <strong>CUT</strong>, 21 September <strong>2011</strong>.<br />

• Cultural Exhibition, 21 September <strong>2011</strong>.<br />
