Secuiesc / 1997 Light, Oradea ”The public art sculpture is a specific genre which has its own separate governing laws, with its own expectations that need to be met. The other medium in which we manifest ourselves in Santi is a freer topic. Here the people can show themselves better to the audience, to their friends and not lastly to themselves. The creative process is an excitement in itself, creating is a continuous death and rebirth. just like life. This is how I think of art, as a permanent renewal. That’s why I like to experiment with it and I really enjoy doing it. Whatever I am doing, I give it all. This is how it becomes enjoyable for myself as well. Art is an obsession for me, it has become an inner necessity, and this is what makes me happy and brings me joy. Art is a serious game without compromises. Art is liberating. just like the poet writes what’s inside him, I also express what’s inside myself due to an inner compulsion. This constraint is always honest because it can’t exist otherwise. Art is criticism and service. It is the criticism of life and the service of the believes. The point is that it can not serve any direction, party or idea. This is the way it can remain pure and true. The man is the center of my interest. The creature who adapts to everything. The subject always shapes my perception. I have not formed my style, I am trying to express the subject, not force it into a specific style. In an age where art trends without tradition compete with each other, a series of questions are formulated in my mind with the primary theme of the creative process that I try to stop only when there is nothing to add and nothing to take from it. My statement is trying to become a whole unit summed up by the constant interaction of the concrete and abstract ideas.” István Harmath, baja, 2015 10
