C S E G Ö L D I E R I KA „Barbie becomes a star”
című munkájában, nyilván, ha Barbiról van szó,
kicsit fura, hogy a várt rózsaszín helyett egy
ero tikus töltetű, vörös látvány fogad. Ebből akár
arra is következtethetnénk, hogy Barbi netán
pornósztár lett... A doboz megpattintva van
kiállítva. Nem tudni, hogy titkos vagy nyilvános
hajlandósággal állunk szemben. A kíván csiság -
nak eleget téve és az interaktivitás lehe tősé gét
eljátszva, van esély a doboz rejtel mes tartal -
mát felfedni. A betekintés pillana tától a munka
magyarázatra szorul. Megtudjuk, hogy a rejtélyes
doboz a barbi baba tenyér- és lábnyomait
őrzi. A giccs világáról, a mondvacsinált érték
abszurd létrejöttéről és imádatáról van szó.
A művész szándéka az volt, hogy plasztikailag
a giccs formai és tartalmi eszközeit használva
hozza létre a giccs művészi jelképét.
E R I KA C S E G Ö L D I ’s work, “barbie becomes A
Star” surprises us first of all with its color. Instead
of the obvious pink, we notice an erotic red. We
might think at first that barbie has become a
porn star. The box is exhibited slightly open, and
it’s hard to decide if it was left open by accident
or on purpose. Taking advantage of the possibility
of interaction, and complying with our natural
curiosity, we may open the box to reveal its content.
We find that the mysterious box contains
the barbie doll’s hand- and footprint. The work
talks about the world of kitsch, the absurd origin
of a fake value and its worship. The artist was
trying to express the artistic symbol of kitsch, by
using its own means of form and content.
C S E G Ö L D I E R I KA másik munkája, a „Born
of stars” a hollywoodi járdákon elhelyezett
csillagokra utalva, művészkollégái horosz kóp -
ját foglalta az ötágú csillagba. A munkához az
is hozzátartozott, hogy a célzott személy az
egyénre szabott horoszkópját felolvassa.
E R I KA C S E G Ö L D I ’s other exhibited work,
“born of Stars”, refers to the stars on the sidewalks
of Hollywood. Following the same formula, the
artist placed the horoscopes of her colleagues in
the five pointed star. As part of the work, the targeted
person would read his or her own horoscope.
