The International Choir Festival and Competition
has been annually organized by the
INTERKULTUR Foundation (Federal Republic of
Germany) in many countries worldwide, and
today, the first time in Vietnam, this event has
been honourably hosted by Hoi An city, Quang
Nam province. This is one of the key activities
of the National Year of Tourism in the South
Central Coastal provinces - 2011, an opportunity
for Vietnamese loving music to enjoy the
choral performing art by singers from countries
over the world; an opportunity for choirs
to come together for interchanging culture
and experiences, and reinforcing international
cooperative friendliness among nations.
On behalf of the Quang Nam provincial authority
and people, I am thankful to the INTER-
KULTUR Foundation for chosing the gorgeous
and hospitable city of Hoi An, Quang Nam province
as the host city of this important musical
event. I would like to send my salutations and
thanks to the choir leaders and members who
have come to Quang Nam for participating in
the event.
of which the terrain consists of mountain,
forest, plain, rivers, sea, islands; advantageous
infrastructure: airports, seaports, railroad
and highways. It is also a land famous for its
historic vestiges, beautiful sights including
two World Cultural Heritages (Hoi An Ancient
town and My Son Holyland) and the World
Biosphere Reserve in Cham islands, as well as
125 km of nice beaches planned into high quality
and attractive resorts…, and also a meeting
place of civilizations, laborious, frank, hospitable
people. I hope all of you will spend happy
and significant days in the time of being in Hoi
An, Quang Nam, Vietnam.
We believe that with the interest and supports
by the Vietnam Ministry of Culture, Sports and
Tourism, the cooperation by the INTERKULTUR
Foundation, the enthusiasm by choirs from
countries and territories, the 1 st Vietnam International
Choir Festival and Competition, Hoi
An, Quang Nam 2011 will be greatly successful.
