What appears to be occurring is that the vast majority of nurses are silent; they are not being heard; not because of lack of opportunity, but because of their personal lack of time and self-motivation. They are also not committed to what they perceive as the ineffective political part of nursing. This lack of confidence, coupled with personal apathy towards professional organizations, is what the leadership in nursing organizations must constantly strive to correct. In this position I would hope to grow, to learn, and to ensure gains in turning nurses into pro-active members of local, state and national ANA. Thank for this opportunity.
