INFORMATION SYSTEMS TECHNOLOGY<br />

Networking Specialization<br />

(Christanna and John H. Daniel Campuses)<br />

Degree: Associate of Applied Science<br />

Length: Sixty-five credit hour program<br />

Purpose: The Information Systems Technology degree<br />

with a Networking Specialization introduces students<br />

to Information Technology (IT) sectors such as hardware,<br />

software, networking, web design, programming,<br />

information security, and computer installation, repair,<br />

troubleshooting, and support. This curriculum is designed<br />

to prepare students for entry-level employment<br />

in a rapidly expanding field.<br />

Occupational Objectives: Graduates of this curriculum<br />

may work as help desk specialists, PC repair/hardware<br />

troubleshooting technicians, network support personnel,<br />

server technicians, or data center technicians. In<br />

some cases, graduates will be able to immediately fill<br />

positions. In others, additional education, training, or<br />

industry certifications will be required to fill job roles.<br />

Program Description: The Information Systems Technology<br />

curriculum with a networking specialization offers<br />

students an opportunity to prepare themselves for<br />

IT professional positions utilizing skills in networking<br />

fundamentals, switching and routing, protocols and<br />

communications, network security, help desk, PC hardware<br />

troubleshooting, operating systems, and server<br />

administration. In addition, students will acquire skills<br />

using Microsoft Office application software.<br />
