Thomas Huelskoetter is the Research Associate for Health Policy at the Center<br />

for American Progress.<br />

Ashe McGovern is a Policy Analyst with LGBT Progress at the Center for<br />

American Progress. McGovern focuses on the effects of criminal, racial, and<br />

economic justice issues on LGBTQ communities. Prior to joining the Center,<br />

McGovern was an equal justice works fellow at New York Legal Assistance Group.<br />

David Madland is a Senior Fellow and the Senior Advisor to the American Worker<br />

Project at the Center for American Progress. He has written extensively about the<br />

economy and American politics on a range of topics, including the middle class,<br />

economic inequality, retirement policy, labor unions, and workplace standards<br />

such as the minimum wage. Madland is the author of Hollowed Out: Why the<br />

Economy Doesn’t Work without a Strong Middle Class.<br />

Michael Madowitz is an Economist at the Center for American Progress whose<br />

work has focused on labor markets, financial markets, tax policy, household lifecycle<br />

behavior, and a variety of environmental economics topics.<br />

Carmel Martin is the Executive Vice President for Policy at the Center for<br />

American Progress. She manages policy across issue areas and is a key member<br />

of the Center’s executive team. Prior to joining the Center, Martin was the<br />

assistant secretary for planning, evaluation, and policy development at the U.S.<br />

Department of Education. She previously served as general counsel and deputy<br />

staff director for the late Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-MA) as chairman of the<br />

Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee.<br />

Silva Mathema is a Senior Policy Analyst on the Immigration Policy team at the<br />

Center for American Progress. Previously, she worked as a research associate for<br />

the Poverty and Race Research Action Council.<br />

Ben Miller is the Senior Director for Postsecondary Education at the Center for<br />

American Progress. He was previously the research director for higher education<br />

at New America, as well as a senior policy advisor in the Office of Planning,<br />

Evaluation, and Policy Development at the U.S. Department of Education. Miller’s<br />

work focuses on higher-education accountability, affordability, and financial aid,<br />

as well as for-profit colleges and other issues.<br />
