Who are the NCT?
The National Consumer Tribunal or NCT, for
short, was created in 2007 to assist with various
aspects of consumer protection and the
National Credit Act. For example, if the National
Credit Regulator find a registrant - like a bank or
Debt Counsellor - is breaking the National Credit
Act they can take them to the NCT and ask for
a big fine or even deregistration. Consumers
can also apply to the NCT for help with
various things like when a credit provider
refuses to send you a statement. An order
from the NCT is seen the same as an order
from a High Court.
