Dennis L. Thuftedal
Dennis L.
Thuftedal, 82, of Mokena,
died Sept. 24. He was a
veteran of the U.S. Army
Reserves, a member of the
Chicago Bar Association, a
former minister for United
Christian Church in Country
Club Hills and a member
of the Disciples of Christ
Minister Group. He is survived
by his wife, Virginia
Thuftedal; children, David
(Dawn) Thuftedal and Karen
(Ed) Moran; siblings, Dale
(Linda) Thuftedal, Chris
Thuftedal and Nancy Kangas;
grandchildren, Ryan
Thuftedal, Kirstin (Gary)
Perkins, Tyler Thuftedal,
Matthew Moran, Zachary
Moran, Seth Perkins and Logan
Perkins; great grandchild,
Olyvia Thuftedal; and
many nieces and nephews.
Visitation and a funeral service
were held at Kurtz Memorial
Chapel. Interment
Good Shepherd Cemetery.

or Diabetes Association
would be appreciated.

and gathering gifts for St.
Matthew Church, as well as the
Chicago and Crisis Center For
South Suburbia. Patrons may donate
the following winter clothing
items for children and adults: hats,
scarves, mittens and gloves and
socks. Baby items will also be collected,
which consist of diapers in
all sizes, baby wipes, baby wash
(no shampoo), baby lotion (no
oil), powder and diaper rash ointment,
pacifiers, bottles and bottle
cleaners, baby food (cereal, juice,
vegetables), socks, sippy cups and
toddler utensils. Registration to attend
this workshop is required. For

9th Annual Trunk-or-Treat
4:30-6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31.
The Trunk-or-Treat is to take place.
The church is looking for participants
to help tend to the parking lot,
serve food and more. Those who
cannot volunteer on the day of can
still help by donating candy. Peanut
or peanut butter-based treats are not
allowed. Those interested can sign
up on the poster in the narthex. A
box will be placed at the narthex, as
well for candy donations.
Fall Fest & Roast Beef Dinner
Saturday, Nov. 12. Patrons are
invited to donate to the “Country
Kitchen,” which include baked
goods, homemade canned products
and preserves and more. Those
working on craft items are asked to
make a few extra. The Fall Fest is
sponsored by the Ruth Society. For
