Care with the Cubbies scores big
Submitted by Community
Services Foundation
On Sept. 16, Community
Services Foundation
hosted Care with the Cubbies,
a fundraising event to
raise money for children and
adults with diverse disabilities.
The fundraiser started off
at Stoney Point Grill in Mokena,
where attendees received
their tickets, T-shirts,
Cubs bucks and a bag full of
goodies. Stoney Point Grill
also prepared a complimentary
hot breakfast for all attendees.
Once everyone arrived,
a charter bus was provided--complete
with snacks
and drinks--which took the
group up north to Chicago’s
Wrigley Field for a 1:05 p.m.
first pitch.
At Wrigley, Care with the
Cubbies attendees were able
to experience an afternoon
of an exhilarating baseball
game. Although the Cubs
had technically secured a
playoff spot the night before
when both the Cubs and Cardinals
lost their respective
games, it did not feel like a
true clincher until the Cubs
were given an official win in
the scorebooks.
Luckily, attendees at Care
with the Cubbies were able
to experience this win. They
watched the Cubs beat the
Milwaukee Brewers in extra
innings, followed by a celebration
on the field, where
players flew the “W” flag
as a mark of their official,
clinched playoff spot.
The excitement continued
after the game, as the fundraiser
moved to HVAC Pub,
where fans enjoyed pizza,
an open bar and desserts
galore. There, over 30 raffle
and silent auction items were
available for attendees to
view, purchase, and bid on.
Top sponsors for the entire
day included Horton Insurance,
HVAC Pub, Magic
Uplighting, Chicago Flower
Company, Standard Bank &
Trust, Apparel Machine and
more. The event raised over
$6,500 for individuals with
disabilities.
At Community Services
Foundation, the mission is
to develop and create opportunities
for individuals with
disabilities that support and
inspire independence. The
Care with the Cubbies event
helped support this mission
and cause, all while attendees
enjoyed an afternoon of
baseball, food, drink, and
more.
“Everyone truly enjoyed
themselves & it was an incredible
day after the Cubs
clinch,” said Robin Curtner,
the Community Services
Foundation director of development.
“The hot breakfast
at Stoney Point Grill
was incredible. It was truly
an amazing day brining local
businesses together to
support an incredible cause.
We look forward to making
this an incredible fundraiser
year after year. I hope to see
even more local businesses
involved next year.”
All proceeds of this event
will benefit CTF Illinois, a
member agency of Community
Services Foundation
that provides services and
programming to individuals
with disabilities. For information
