30 YOUNG IN THE CITY // SPONSORED BY BRIGHTLET INTRODUCING RAVEN KNIGHT Hello there! My name is Raven, and I’m a kid (well, kind of kid; I’m only 14 – I’m getting there!). I’m the average kid, I guess – plays games, hangs out with friends (sometimes; I don’t have many), listens to music (though probably not your type of music). I’m an anime fan, and an artist. You’ll be seeing some of my art here, in the form of fabulous comic strips! – it’s not hard to spot them, they’re pretty colourful. Let me tell you a bit about myself: I play games a lot, and I mean a lot. Once I stayed up until 3AM playing a computer game on a school night, my mother was not impressed (don’t try that at home, kids! You’ll probably fall asleep in school the next day, and then you’ll have an angry parent AND a detention to deal with). I’m a PC gamer – PC master race FTW! – but I do occasionally go on the PlayStation 4 or 3. No Xbox – sorry to any fans I just disappointed out there! My favourite game at the moment would be ‘Blade and Soul’, an MMORPG game. For those who don’t know, MMORPG means Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game. ‘Blade and Soul’ is Korean based, but recently came to Europe and the UK (it was actually my friend who introduced me to it – cheers to you if you’re reading this!), and you can customise your own character, then put them in a server, each one having a different story. It’s really fun! At the moment my character is a Lyn, meaning that she’s a small cute fox girl! She’s got big blue fluffy ears and a blue tail, and a cat pet as a companion. For the PlayStation, I like playing Call of Duty (big surprise, I know – a girl playing CoD?! *sarcastic gasp* It’s unheard of!) and Minecraft. I will admit, I don’t play online much on CoD because there are waaaayyyy too many quickscopers on there. Like, come on. Give me a chance, would ya?! I’m not even prestige yet. And don’t even get me started on the FaZe clan. Minecraft is the game I play more, I really like building things. I built a mansion, treehouse, castle and a few more treehouses in survival mode. Music-wise, I don’t listen to the UK Top 40. I actually listen to a type of Japanese music called VOCALOID, a synthesizing software. They have several different singers – Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin and Lne, Megurine Luka – they’re the main ones, but there are loads more. I first found them when I heard the song World is Mine by Hatsune Miku, back in about 2012. Art-wise? I love drawing anime and manga (Japanese comic strips. Yes, I know I’m obsessed with Japanese stuff), and making my own characters. You’ll see my comic strips here often. Hope you enjoy my work! GAMES :D Xbox One’s backwards compatibility program they’ve got going on is offering even more old styled games to play. At the start of May, Microsoft released ‘Black Ops 1’ for the Xbox One, one of my personal favourites. I mean, come on! Smashing zombies to bits in ‘Kino Der Toten’ was the best. And using the AK-47 on multiplayer? Beautiful. However, there are other games coming out too, adding to the Xbox One’s list of oldies. ‘Skate 3’ is coming out, along with the ‘Bioshock’ series - that’s ‘BioShock’, ‘BioShock 2’, and ‘BioShock Infinite’. Speaking of Xbox, there’s a new Xbox coming out. The unofficial name for it is Xbox Slim, it’s supposedly meant to be 40% smaller than the current Xbox One, and meant to have 2TB – that’s two terabytes, a very large amount of space – and is meant to be cheaper than the current Xbox One. Even more Xbox rumours! There’s meant to be an Xbox One VR, codenamed “Scorpio”, that’s said to have a much more powerful graphics card, four times the normal power. That’s enough power to use an Oculus Rift, which is a virtual reality headset. According to CNET (a news website), a game developer at a "well-known European studio" let slip to Ars Technica (another news website) that his company was working on an Xbox One VR title for 2017.
