Goodluck Ken
Ken Lyndon-Dykes has
been appointed as the new
President of the Society of
Master Saddlers.
Well-known throughout the
industry, and with a successful
career both in the saddle and
designing and fitting them Ken
is passionate about continuing
to improve standards.
Ken will work
closely with
the Chief
Executive, Hazel
Morley, and
the Executive
Committee, along
with the subcommittees
over the
coming year and was
appointed to this new position
at the Society of Master
Saddlers’ AGM. Ken takes over
from Laura Dempsey, with Sue
Norton moving into the Vice
President’s role.

of the society. I am looking
forward to my year and believe
the long term strategy of the
society is excellent as we

15mph Make It Law
Around 50 horses marched
through the streets of
Nottingham on the 2nd of
October calling for cars to
slow down to a maximum of
15mph while passing them on
the road.
The campaigners met
at Wollaton Park in
Nottinghamshire and began a
route through the streets all
the way to Nottingham Castle
in the hope to raise awareness
of horses on the road and
demand that vehicle drivers
pass wide and slow.
Over the past 5 years more
2,000 incidents involving
horses on the road have been
reported.
The Horse Awareness
campaign has been supported
by the Nottingham Council
who provided the event
with reflective arm bands.
These arm bands contained
disclaimers and medical
details to assist in the event
of an accident.

Paddy Tipping, the Police
Commissioner of Nottingham,
awaited the arrival of the
riders at Nottingham Castle
and was photographed with
Organiser, Penny Stocks as
she handed over the petition
of all the names the campaign
has collected so far for. Once
all of the signatures have been
collected the organisation
plans to hand over the
petition to No. 10 Downing
street in the hope that the
legislation will be put forward
to be made law, though the
exact date is unclear.
Nottinghamshire Folklore
heroes, Robin Hood and Maid
Marion made an appearance
outside the castle to also
support the movement.
