We look forward to seeing you at our annual Scholastic Preschool Book Fair which will be held Jan. 9–20 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Early Childhood wing of the JCC. Our book fair is the perfect way to update your home library at half the cost! Many of our parents love to purchase books for their child’s classroom. To make this easier for you, please look for the specially marked book bins at the checkout which contains the wish list of books for classroom libraries. Your child will be able to place a special sticker inside the book that lets the teacher know who purchased it for the classroom. Please note that purchasing a book from the wish bin is optional and not required. The Early Childhood Development Program greatly appreciates all wish bin books that are purchased. GRAND EVENT Grandparents or other special people are invited to have lunch with their preschooler! After lunch and a special story all special guests are invited to shop for books for their children from our book fair. Save the date! Our Grand Event will be held as follows: • Jan. 12 – Classrooms 6, 7, 8 • Jan. 13 – Classrooms A, B, 2 Look for the invitation in your child’s mailbox. PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES Communication between parents and teachers is an important part of our program. During the school year teachers are making observations and documenting learning to guide instruction and promote success in all areas of development. We look forward to sharing it with you during the parent-teacher conferences that will be held Jan. 9–20. Please look for the sign-up sheet outside the office. A second conference will be scheduled in May. PURIM PARADE The Early Childhood Development Program will hold its annual Purim Parade on March 10 at 9:45 a.m. in the gymnasium. Parents are invited to attend and children may wear their costumes to school. Winter enrichment classes Classes require pre-registration and are subject to minimum enrollment. Bricks 4 Kidz Age: 4–5 Day: Thursdays Dates: Jan. 5, 12, 19, 26 Time: 1–1:45 pm Fee: $55 members, $60 non-members Taught by: Bricks 4 Kidz CNY This is a great class for children to practice fine motor skills, pattern recognition and more. Your child will build a different LEGO animal each class while taking a virtual trip to the zoo! We’ll build a camel, elephant, giraffe and kangaroo using LEGO Duplo bricks. Each class will start with circle time and a book about the animal that will be built. Following the animal build, there will be some creative LEGO play time and crafts. Kids Yoga Age: 3–5 Day: Wednesdays Dates: Jan. 4, 11, 18, 25 Time: 1:15–2 pm Fee: $35 members, $40 non-members Taught by: Bridgett Langstaff This class helps kids build concentration, strength, flexibility, self-control and balance. Children will embark on a calming journey and begin to understand mindfulness and finding contentment in everyday life. JCC membership not required to enroll in these classes.
