Match Preview: Bradford City vs Blackburn Rovers
Bradford City welcome Blackburn Rovers this
afternoon in the First Round Proper of the SSE
FA Women’s Cup.
Current form
If you’ve turned up today to see a top quality
game of football, then you’re in luck—or at
least that’s what paper suggests.
Today’s clash features two confident, in-form
teams, and their football should reflect that.
Blackburn are yet to lose this season and are
on a winning run of 13 games, while City are
pursuing their third successive victory having
looked sharp and well-rested following their
first break of the campaign.
Team news
There’s mixed team news for the Bantams this
afternoon.
The good news is that Jess Graham is available
6 | SSE FA WOMEN’S CUP | BRADFORD CITY VS BLACKBURN ROVERS
for selection again, having been out injured
since September.
However, the bad news starts with loanee
Rachel Newborough not allowed to play by
parent club Doncaster Belles, as it would cup
tie her for when they enter the competition in
the later rounds.
Lucy Sowerby is the only injury, but one that
City have already come to terms with—not a
fresh one.
Previous meetings
These two have already met twice this season,
with Blackburn winning both games.
A 4-0 win here and a 4-2 win on their own
patch means Rovers have taken six points
from today’s hosts.
City will be out for revenge then in what is
expected to be another goal-fest, going by
past encounters.
