Chelsie Stokes: “We want to control the game”
difference – having three games in hand over
leaders Middlesbrough.
after the last time we played them,” Stokes
said.
On a 13-game winning streak, their only
dropped points came back in August in a draw
with Huddersfield.
City’s form may not be as incredible, but it’s
worth shouting about.
Victory today would be their third in a row,
with that week off clearly having aided them.
After playing 14 games in 12 weeks, the
Bantams enjoyed a natural break in the fixture
list, with it well-needed after two successive
defeats.
They look well rested and as sharp as ever, as
reflected in last week’s comfortable 3-1 win at
Stoke.
“There's definitely confidence going into this
weekend, not only with two wins but also
“We gained a lot of confidence by competing
with a team who are top of the table.
“We've really played as a team lately too
which boosts the confidence a bit.”
The unpredictability of the cup only adds to
the occasion.
Blackburn’s perfect start has to end at some
point, and the Bantams would love to cause
an upset.
With a place in the next round at stake, it’s
going to be a very competitive affair, with
Stokes expecting a “physical” and “fast paced”
game.
“We expect this to be a tough match,” she
said.
“But one that we can definitely win.”
