Ryman-Carroll Foundation (aka Ryman <strong>Arts</strong>)<br />

$15,000 Los Angeles, CA<br />

To support pre-professional studio art classes <strong>for</strong> high school students. The sequential curriculum focuses on<br />

drawing from observation, color and composition, and critical analysis. Students also will learn techniques of<br />

wet and dry media (e.g., oil paint and pencil), explore <strong>the</strong> artistic traditions in those media, and receive<br />

extensive instruction in life drawing. Classes are taught by experienced teaching artists and offered free-ofcharge.<br />

Salvadori Center Ltd. (aka Salvadori Center)<br />

$25,000 New York, NY<br />

To support in-school design and architecture residencies <strong>for</strong> public school students in <strong>the</strong> greater New York City<br />

area. Salvadori teaching artists will use <strong>the</strong> built environment-buildings, bridges, parks and <strong>the</strong> urban landscapeto<br />

teach students <strong>the</strong> design process and realize <strong>the</strong> math, science, and social history embedded in <strong>the</strong><br />

structures within <strong>the</strong>ir communities. The program will culminate in a one-day Annual Design Charrette in which<br />

students work with professional architects, designers, and engineers to design, develop, and build a project in<br />

response to a design challenge.<br />

San Francisco Art and Film Program (aka SF Art & Film)<br />

$10,000 San Francisco, CA<br />

To support <strong>the</strong> Teen Film Workshop. The media arts education project will prepare students <strong>for</strong> film school and<br />

train <strong>the</strong>m <strong>for</strong> careers in <strong>the</strong> film industry. Students will participate in lectures and film viewings, which will<br />

provide <strong>the</strong>m with a foundation in <strong>the</strong>ory; <strong>the</strong>y <strong>the</strong>n will apply what <strong>the</strong>y have learned as <strong>the</strong>y design and<br />

produce individual films and a group film. The program will culminate in <strong>the</strong> presentation of student work at <strong>the</strong><br />

San Francisco Art Institute.<br />

San Francisco Symphony (aka SFS) (On behalf of San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra)<br />

$20,000 San Francisco, CA<br />

To support <strong>the</strong> Artist Development Program of <strong>the</strong> San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra. Professional<br />

musicians provide in-depth engagement with orchestral music to students free-of-charge, as a complement to<br />

<strong>the</strong> Youth Orchestra's weekly rehearsals and concert series. Program components include intensive coaching,<br />

collaboration with guest artists, apprenticeships, mentoring, and training in chamber music and audition<br />

techniques. All program activity serves all Youth Orchestra students, and students are able to experience live<br />

music at a professional level by attending San Francisco Symphony concerts throughout <strong>the</strong> year.<br />

Seattle Public Schools (aka Seattle Public Schools)<br />

$100,000 Seattle, WA<br />

To support implementation of <strong>the</strong> Creative Advantage, a collective impact project. In partnership with Seattle's<br />

Office of <strong>Arts</strong> & Culture, Seattle Foundation, Seattle Art Museum, <strong>Arts</strong> Corps, and <strong>Arts</strong>Ed Washington, <strong>the</strong><br />

project will include regional and school-based planning, common core arts assessments, professional<br />

development <strong>for</strong> arts and non-arts teachers, and comprehensive longitudinal evaluation. The school district will<br />

use a principal peer-coaching model, contracting <strong>Arts</strong> Leadership Principal Coaches to work with schools through<br />

<strong>the</strong> multi-year process of implementing and refining arts plans, which will be geared towards arts equity and<br />

quality.<br />

Some details of <strong>the</strong> projects listed are subject to change, contingent upon prior <strong>Arts</strong> <strong>Endowment</strong> approval. In<strong>for</strong>mation is current as of<br />
