all given equal weight as <strong>the</strong>y are in classic flamenco, and possibly featuring artists from o<strong>the</strong>r disciplines.<br />
ODC (aka ODC/Dance)<br />
$20,000 San Francisco, CA<br />
To support <strong>the</strong> creation and presentation of new dance works. Co-Artistic Director KT Nelson will choreograph<br />
<strong>the</strong> first phase of a new work, titled,"Reimagining Heritage." Founder and Artistic Director Brenda Way will<br />
create a new chamber work with music drawn from <strong>the</strong> David Lang catalogue. ODC will work with presenters<br />
and local organizations to develop outreach activities to increase engagement, such as lecture-demonstrations<br />
and balcony talks. These new works will premiere in ODC's annual Dance Downtown season at Yerba Buena<br />
Center <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Arts</strong> in San Francisco.<br />
ODC Theater<br />
$30,000 San Francisco, CA<br />
To support presentation of dance works by local, national, and international artists. ODC Theater will expand <strong>the</strong><br />
Walking Distance Dance Festival-SF to feature an increased number of per<strong>for</strong>mances in a fringe-<strong>for</strong>mat.<br />
Additional per<strong>for</strong>mance highlights will include <strong>the</strong> world premiere of Monique Jenkinson's "Delicate Material,"<br />
which questions how society views gender and misogyny, and free site-specific per<strong>for</strong>mances by Joanna<br />
Haigood/Zaccho Dance Theater in partnership with <strong>the</strong> African American Per<strong>for</strong>ming <strong>Arts</strong> Coaltion and <strong>the</strong> Joe<br />
Goode Annex. ODC Theater will take <strong>the</strong>se dance experiences beyond per<strong>for</strong>mance by offering master classes,<br />
pre- and post-per<strong>for</strong>mance talks, and a per<strong>for</strong>mance docent program that will offer free tickets to local artists<br />
and academics who are willing to engage in one-on-one conversations with audience members.<br />
On <strong>the</strong> Boards (aka n/a)<br />
$30,000 Seattle, WA<br />
To support dance presentations, residencies, and developmental activities <strong>for</strong> choreographers. A Northwest<br />
incubator <strong>for</strong> contemporary dance, On <strong>the</strong> Boards (OtB) will work with local, national, and international artists,<br />
such as Jessica Jobaris, Hea<strong>the</strong>r Kravas, Jody Kuehner, and Bebe Miller to create and develop new pieces<br />
through <strong>the</strong> Per<strong>for</strong>mance Production Program. Dance presentations may include Rashaun Mitchell/Silas<br />
Riener/Charles Atlas' piece "Desire Lines" and Korean artist Geumhyung Jeong's "CPR Practice." OtB also will copresent<br />
Seattle artist Jody Kuehner's "one great, bright, brittle altoge<strong>the</strong>rness" and Faye Driscoll's series "Thank<br />
You For Coming Part 1: Attendance and Part 2 Play" in partnership with Velocity Dance Center. OtB will help<br />
audiences contextualize <strong>the</strong> works through blog posts, community discussions, master classes, media<br />
installations, <strong>the</strong> Ambassador Project, and <strong>the</strong> creation of a pilot program of university-level dance curriculum<br />
<strong>for</strong> On<strong>the</strong>Boards.tv.<br />
Oregon Ballet Theatre (aka OBT)<br />
$20,000 Portland, OR<br />
To support creation and presentation of new dance works. OBT will welcome three North American, female<br />
choreographers to <strong>the</strong>ir studios in Portland, to work with company dancers during a four-week intensive<br />
residency as part of <strong>the</strong> Choreography XX program. During <strong>the</strong> residencies, each choreographer will create a<br />
world premiere ballet, which OBT will present at an outdoor venue in Portland. Choreographers will work with<br />
OBT's wardrobe and production departments on original costumes and lighting design. The program will be fully<br />
produced and offered free-of-charge to <strong>the</strong> public.<br />
Pacific Northwest Ballet Association (aka Pacific Northwest Ballet)<br />
$60,000 Seattle, WA<br />
