GEA PHE Systems builds the world’s most modern
factory for plate heat exchangers, for the world’s
largest market, in record time.

in america, it’s got to be there. gea pHe systems, responsible for this business within the gea process
equipment Division, took the challenge. it built the world’s most modern factory in york, pennsylvania,
within a very short time and, in doing so, it pulled away from the competition.

was completed in record time.
gea pHe systems’ new factory is more
than just a symbol of its global position.
it’s a 60-million dollar investment
that makes it the leading center of
competence for plate heat exchangers
in north america.
the first phase of the construction, an
ultra-modern plant for brazed ‘gb’
heat exchangers, was completed in
record time – just some few months
from foundations to start-up. phase
two, to manufacture gasketed heat
exchangers, is expected to be completed
by the end of the year. the
new factory will allow gea pHe
systems north america to provide a
complete range of heat exchangers,
for nearly any industrial application,
throughout north america, with the
efficiency and economy its customers
expect.
the factory will provide 260 new jobs
for the highly qualified workforce

Within the gea process equipment
Division of the international gea
group aktiengesellschaft, gea pHe
systems is responsible for plate heat
exchanger technology. With around
750 employees gea pHe systems
achieves an annual group turnover
with plate heat exchangers of several
hundred million euros.

is the center of the air-conditioning
business in the united states. it has a
good supply of extremely well educated
engineers and workers. With
american and german engineers
working together in this modern
plant we will be able to manufacture
state-of-the-art products and consolidate
our leading position in the
marketplace.“
gea pHe systems is fast becoming a
global player: even though the york
plant represents a huge investment
it’s just another step on the way. in
2003 a heat exchanger plant was
opened at the companies headquarters
in sarstedt, germany; two years
later, a large press in ystad, sweden,
came on line; and earlier this year,
gea ecoflex/india opened a modern
factory for small and medium-sized
heat exchangers in pune, india, to
serve the asian-pacific markets.
