Voluntary and Open Membership<br />
Cooperatives are voluntary in nature and are open to all the people who are able to<br />
enjoy its services and willing to accept the responsibilities and obligations attached<br />
upon membership, without any discrimination to gender, social status, race, politics, and<br />
religion.<br />
Democratic Member Control<br />
Cooperatives are democratically controlled by their members who are actively<br />
participate in formulation and setting of their policies, decision making, patronizing<br />
goods, and usage of the services in their cooperative.<br />
Member's Economic Participation<br />
All members have an obligation to participate in contributing equally for the capital of the<br />
cooperative and control the usage of it democratically. This will benefit all members<br />
proportionally to the business they are engaged.<br />
Autonomy and Independence<br />
Cooperatives are autonomous in manner that they have the power to govern<br />
themselves. Hence, free from external control.<br />
Education, Training, and Information<br />
Cooperatives provide education and timely training for members, coordinators,<br />
employees, and managers for them to effectively contribute for the development of their<br />
cooperative.<br />
Cooperation among Cooperatives<br />
Cooperatives can effectively serve their members to the fullest and solidify the<br />
cooperative movement by working together though local, national, regional, and<br />
international structure.<br />
Concern for Community<br />
While maintain the focus on member needs, cooperatives are committed to work for the<br />
sustainable development of communities through policies and programs which are<br />
acceptable to all members.<br />
