PEGAS<br />

Our Partner Pegas was founded in 1990 by the engineer Joseph<br />

Gonda. PEGAS is short for Pepa Gonda and (Czech "a" sons.<br />

From the outset, the company has focused on assembling and<br />

selling <strong>metal</strong>-cutting band saws and circular saws. In 1991, the<br />

family-owned business PEGAS-QUATTRO GmbH was founded; the<br />

"quattro" here stands for the four family members.<br />

1993 – The company opens up its own facility in Ruprechtov<br />

and increases production. The company expands into <strong>metal</strong><br />

construction; a cutting shop with premium equipment means that<br />

new types of band saws can be tested.<br />

1994 – Semi-automatic sawing machines from the PROFESIONAL<br />

series are developed; business activities are extend to Slovakia and<br />

Poland.<br />

2000 – PEGAS is ISO 2000 certified; the first automatic saws are<br />

developed, and the country looks to further European countries.<br />

2001 – Two large-scale column saws in the HERKULES series<br />

are built; the company goes through a boom in business and<br />

development. A new site is purchases in Slavkov u Brna and the<br />

company name is changed to PEGAS-GONDA GmbH.<br />

2003 – Band saw production is completely relocated to Slavkov;<br />

the largest Czech band saw, the GOLEM 1600 x 1200 (with the<br />

ability to cut blocks of machine steel vertically and horizontally)<br />

is built.<br />

2004 – In five facilities with a floor space of 7000 m², 65<br />

employees create the full range of 40 band saw types with<br />

cutting dimensions from 100 – 1600 mm; 80% of production<br />

is delivered abroad. The main activity is serial production<br />

of band saws, however, the company also works intensively<br />

on developing new saws, improving the current range, and<br />

developing custom saws.<br />
