Bloomin’ great gardens
It was another successful year for our
customers at the Royal Horticultural
Society’s Britain in Bloom North West
Awards 2016.
St George’s Court in Hulme picked up
a Level 5 Outstanding Gold Standard
Award thanks to the hard work of block
resident David Horan, who works tirelessly
throughout the year to grow a variety of
herbs and vegetables for neighbours to
enjoy. Hornchurch Court in Hulme also
received Level 3 Advancing Award Silver
Standard. Well done to all involved and
keep up the good work.

December saw the winter solstice
celebrated in typically lively fashion, with
singing and guest speakers to give the
crowd that attended the city centre event
some interesting things to think about.
January’s was titled ‘A Brave New Year’ and
focused on New Year’s resolutions and
how to keep them.
February’s Sunday Assembly is titled
‘Non-Romantic Love’ and looks at love for
one another, for our communities, and for
animals. It takes places on 12 February,
11am-1pm at The Wonder Inn, Shudehill.

Gloriously green
We received some fantastic entries in our gardening
competition, so well done to all who took part.
Each winning category received £50 and the
overall winner won an additional £200.

Unveiling of
community gardens
We’re hosting a fun day to celebrate the launch of three
community garden projects across south Manchester on
Thursday 6 April.
Each will be Easter-themed and local
residents and their families can get creative
by decorating plant pots, planting seeds
and face painting, along with other fun
activities. There’s also a chance to win some
great prizes at each event including naming
each garden, so put the date in your diary.

Fantastic
fundraising
Staff at One Manchester recently held
a raffle to raise funds for 42nd Street,
a charity offering free and confidential
support to young people experiencing
difficulties with mental health and
emotional wellbeing in Greater
Manchester. More than £2,000 was
raised and handed over to help the
charity continue its positive work with
youngsters across the city.
