I have an appointment for tonight. Sunday we<br />

had a little shower, but it was all clear in the<br />

evening. All the help I have here is Elder<br />

Washburn. This will throw considerable labor upon<br />

me, but I shall try to be careful. I had a malarious<br />

attack, but [it was] not serious. I am feeling quite<br />

strong and of good courage in the Lord. I tried to<br />

have them release me two evenings this week to<br />

speak twice in Baltimore, but they are unwilling I<br />

shall go, so I am in for it over next Sabbath and<br />

Sunday.<br />

All were disappointed that you did not come.<br />

And as you did not come to the first of the meeting<br />

I do not think it would be advisable for you to<br />

come now. I thought it would not be best to visit<br />

Philadelphia after this Washington meeting, for we<br />

would have to return back here to use our permits,<br />

and we will go (via) the Ohio and Cincinnati roads<br />

and visit Battle Creek, and then I can make<br />

arrangements for a new departure if it seems to be<br />

duty. We shall have been [away] from home three
