Proposal Closure of
RBS Kilmacolm
There are plans from
The Royal Bank of
Scotland to close the
Kilmacolm Branch in
November of this year.
While I am disappointed
to hear this news, I felt
it important to hear
residents views on
the proposed closure.
I therefore launched
a residents survey in
Kilmacolm and I hope
to be able to release
the results shortly.
If you live in Kilmacolm and did not receive a
survey but wish to take part, please contact
my office on 0141 885 2076 and my staff will
arrange for one to be sent to you.
It is important that locals are consulted on such
issues, and I look forward to sharing the results
with you and RBS in due course.
Roads
I have recently been receiving a number of
complaints from constituents on a range of
roads issues in Renfrewshire North & West.
While as Transport Minister I have responsibility
over motorways and trunk roads, local roads are
under the remit of local government, whether it
be Inverclyde or Renfrewshire Council. However,
as MSP I have been raising individual issues
with the Council as they are reported to me by
constituents, and I am happy to continue to do
so.
Surgeries
I hold surgeries in Kilmacolm, Bridge of Weir,
Erskine and Bishopton on the first Friday of
every month, except January. For except timing
and locations please call my office or check my
website. As well as holding these traditional face
to face advice surgeries, I also hold telephone
surgeries on Monday mornings between
10am and 11am (except for public holidays).
Constituents can call me at my constituency
office on 0141 885 2076 to discuss any issues
that they have. I can also be contacted by e-mail
at derek.mackay.msp@scottish.parliament.uk.
Website
My website recently received a revamp. To
keep up-to-date with my latest news as your
MSP, details on my surgeries or other local
information please feel free to take a look www.
As the Scottish Parliament enters its final year of the fourth session, I have been honoured
to serve the people of Renfrewshire and West Scotland. With the Independence referendum
and the General Election within the last year it has been a busy time and I continue to look
ahead to the future and to represent the people of Renfrewshire North & West.
Over the summer recess, my team and I have delivered over 11,000 Parliamentary Surveys
to local residents and I have received a great response so far. One of the most pressing
issues returned in my survey is road and paths maintenance and access to transport.
Renfrewshire, Inverclyde and all local authorities are under severe financial constraints
imposed by the Scottish Government. We need a national discussion to best identify how
we can adequately fund public services and ensure our local environments and roads are
maintained and protected.
Access to local public transport is a problem for the many towns and villages in
Renfrewshire, particularly in Bridge of Weir, Houston and Kilmacolm. My colleague in
the Scottish Parliament Iain Gray MSP has lodged a Bill to improve bus services across
Scotland; unfortunately this has received no support from the Scottish Government and is unlikely to be passed
in to law.
My monthly advice surgeries continue to take place on the first Friday of each month, excluding January. In
September, I will be in Bridge of Weir at The Bridge from 1pm to help you with any local issues. If you can’t attend
any of my surgeries, please call my office on 0141 889 4828 to arrange a home visit. Full details of my surgeries
are on my website www.maryfeemsp.com
