Treasures from the golden days of motorcycle racing sat silently
on their pedestals, like heroes in a classical pantheon, at
Mike Pero’s new Motorcycle Gallery. The grand opening saw
enthusiastic guests milling around, appreciating the collection
of superb engineering, whilst outside, visiting riders arranged
their two-wheeled mounts in ranks of shining beauty. Celebratory
fare was proffered, to attendees’ delight, interrupted only
by the formalities of the opening ceremony. With the red
ribbon severed, the partying continued, bringing joy to the
gathering who lingered to browse the gleaming display.
NARROPERA AT LANSDOWN

Under the long shafts of imminent twilight, picnickers dallied on the
lawn as within the Golden Room, all was made ready for the concert
ahead. Visiting baritone Eike Wilm Schulte was guest starring alongside
Dorothee Jansen, presenting an evening of German opera selections
as part of the Fourth Annual Lansdown Narropera Festival. Scenes
from The Magic Flute, Fidelio and The Mastersingers of Nuremberg,
were brought to life by the narrator and voiced to perfection by the
two singers. After the velvet night fell, the audience held spellbound
throughout, gave loud thanks for the uplifting musical treasure which,
for a brief moment, was theirs.
