Daan Utsav (earlier called the Joy of Giving Week) is India's 'festival of giving'. Launched in 2009,
the festival is celebrated every year – commencing on Gandhi Jayanti – from October 2 to 8. From
auto rickshaw drivers to CEOs, school children to celebrities, homemakers to opinion leaders
and media personnel, millions of people from all walks of life come together during this week to
give their time, money, resources, or skills back to society.
As a part of DAANUTSAV 2016,
Enlightening lives, the student
organization of BVRIT N organized
'Rice bucket challenge' and 'Clothes
for a cause' at BVRIT to raise funds to
help the needy. Our ten member
team visited and donated Rice and
Clothes to the children of Saibaba
Blind School and members of Old
age home at Narsapur on 2nd
October 2016.
A talent show was organised that
provided a platform to these children
to showcase their skills in singing,
dancing etc.
This opportunity made our team
u n d e r s t a n d t h a t w i t h l i t t l e
encouragement, these kids, being
smart and sensitive can surpass any
competing with the world, challenge
themselves and grow up to be
responsible, honorable citizens that
the world can be proud of.
By taking this festival as an inspiration our SBSP college principal D.V. SUBBA RAO garu
organized 'DAAN UTSAV 'program on October 5th, 2016. On this occasion, our college
distributed bread and fruits to patients in Bhimavaram government hospital by using of 'SUH'
FUND. Our campus dignitaries appreciated everyone for conducting this programme.
The trip to the OLD age hoe reminded
me of the reality of what true life is!
We are always cribbing about what life is not offering us although we have everything!
But……somewhere, a mother sits with her son's photo in her hands, hoping that he has a good life
someday he finds time to come and meet her and wipe her tears.
“Thus we have learnt a very great value from this trip and I hope we all
will respect our elders and old people and make them feel
comfortable and just not simply neglect them as they are the ones who
can guide us better in our life and they will be our well-wishers
throughout our life! "
