1,4-Addition <strong>of</strong> bis(iodoz<strong>in</strong>cio)methane to a,b-unsaturated ketones<br />

Aconjugated addition <strong>of</strong> organoz<strong>in</strong>c reagents to a,b-unsaturated carbonyl compound<br />

has been well studied <strong>in</strong> the presence <strong>of</strong> various catalysts. If this reaction is<br />

possible with bis(iodoz<strong>in</strong>cio)methane, the transformation gives c-z<strong>in</strong>c substituted<br />

enolate. As shown <strong>in</strong> Scheme 8.34, bis(iodoz<strong>in</strong>cio)methane reacts with s-cis<br />

a,b-unsaturated ketone <strong>in</strong> the presence <strong>of</strong> chlorotrimethylsilane to afford a silyl<br />
