Unactivated secondary alkyl bromides and iodides have been shown to proceed
Negishi cross-coupling reactions of primary and secondary alkyl bromides and
iodides are achieved when Ni(COD) is employed as the catalyst in the presence of
a diamine ligands such as bupybox [95].
Recently,nickel-catalyzed cross-couplings of organosilicon reagents with unactivated
secondary alkyl bromides have been disclosed. Functional groups such as
fluoride,chloride,ether,lactones,ketones,acetals,and cyanides are stable under
the reaction conditions. Bathophenanthroline appears to be the best ligand for
these transformations [96].
