So often cold and drab and damp, as we wait for warmer summer way. The daffodils we grew with pride, golden blooms we watch them pass. Leaving untidy leaves we cannot touch, like sprawling clumps of uncut grass. Spring flowers to summer now succumb, their gentle beauty now all gone. For colour now to shrubs we turn, as many different hues they don. Now as we think the weather’s right, for bedding plants on sunny day. The sharp night frost reminds us well, it’s a dangerous game to play. So you can keep your month of May, with its ever changing heat. I’ll jump from March and April until flaming June I’ll greet.
