Lincoln BIG
Fun packed events for the whole family this summer
All the ingredients for a
great, fun-packed Summer
are waiting to be enjoyed
by families living in or
visiting Lincoln over the
next few weeks.
MAIN: The Beach will be in
The Cornhill this year.
BELOW:Renowned
composer Carl Davis CBE
(Lincolnshire International
Chamber Music Festival)
Think sandcastles, stripey deckchairs, roundabout rides,
Mr Punch and his family, ice cream, camper vans, music and
much more. Dragons are even going to lurking out there!
School holidays mean that lots of youngsters will be racing
down to The Beach in Lincoln, which will be in place on The
Cornhill, from July 18 to September 3, signalling the start of
seven weeks of fantastic fun and games.
Lincoln BIG said mums and dads will be able to relax in
traditional deckchairs, while the youngsters dig their toes into
real seaside sand, get busy with their buckets and spades or
even take a break for a roundabout ride.
And there’s more! Those summertime favourites Punch & Judy
will be getting in on the act, with shows taking place at The
Beach on July 21 and 26, August 4, 9, 11, 18, 23, 25 and 30.
The actual Punch & Judy Festival takes place around the city
on July 29 and 30.
The Grantham-based Creation Station will also be running
unmissable, colourful children’s activity sessions on July 29,
August 8 and 23.
Families in search of something different, are invited to tap
into this year’s Lincolnshire International Chamber Music
Festival 2016 – which takes place between August 12 and 21.
This year’s theme is “Soundtrack! The Magic of Moving
Music” and, following on the success of events aimed at
children and the young-at-heart last year, there will be two
daytime events to look forward to this time around. Both are
being narrated by Chris Jarvis from CBeebies.
