Kalona Organics, distributor of the

DA-certified organic,
grass-fed, non-homogenized,
batch
pasteurized, and is
made using organic,
Fair Trade-certified
cane sugar.
The new
16-ounce size
launched April 5
and is available at

Mercy Iowa City signs
agreement with Mercy
Health Network
Mercy Iowa City has entered into a
Strategic Affiliation Agreement with
Mercy Health Network, a unified
Catholic health network headquartered
in West Des Moines, which
includes 42 hospitals and 207 medical
clinics in communities throughout
Iowa. This affiliation is effective
as of June 1.
According to administrators at
Mercy Iowa City, this affiliation
will allow Mercy to retain its name
and local control, and help the
hospital respond to the challenges
and uncertainties of the health
care industry.
During the first few months of
2017, Mercy Iowa City and Unity-
Point Health — Cedar Rapids had
conducted the due diligence phase
of exploring an affiliation. However,
due to health care industry challenges,
the organizations mutually
agreed not to pursue an affiliation.
Mercy Iowa City
has already implemented
performance
improvement
initiatives
that have improved
operational and
financial performance.
The affiliation
with Mercy
Health Network will
strengthen Mercy
Iowa City’s financial
performance by
providing access to
critical benefits such
as payer contracting,
group purchasing
and economies of
scale, access to systems
that already
exist within the
network, strategic
growth opportunities,
as well as access
to the Mercy ACO,
the largest Accountable
Care Organization
in Iowa, and
the two largest Catholic
health systems in the country.
Physicians’ Clinic of
Iowa announces new
facility in MedQuarter

Cedar Rapids-based multi-specialty
medical group Physicians’ Clinic
of Iowa (PCI) is exploring a second
facility on the current PCI campus
in the downtown Cedar Rapids
MedQuarter district.
“PCI’s exploratory plans are to
construct a new 100,000-square-foot
medical facility and an additional
500-car parking structure,” David
Hart, M.D., PCI’s president and medical
director, stated in a press release.
“These new facilities are necessary
to accommodate PCI’s continuing
growth and to attract other non-PCI
health care-related services.”
The new medical facility, designed
by BBL Medical Facilities of Albany,
New York, will be located to the
south and west of Firestone Tire, between
Second and Third avenues SE.
“The vision is that the new pavilion
will have a wellness theme, featuring
new PCI specialties and new
health and wellness-related tenants,
potentially in the areas of executive
health, men’s and women’s focused
wellness, and a sports performance
center,” Dr. Hart continued. “PCI is
very proud to be a part of the continued
development within the downtown
MedQuarter. Our goal is the

Medical Pavilion campus as a medical
destination for patients, referring
physicians, employers and visitors we
serve throughout east central Iowa.”
The 500-car parking structure will
be located to the south of the PCI
Medical Pavilion, along Third Avenue
SE. Current plans are to connect
the new medical facility to the existing
parking structure via walkway.
Covered walkways will be constructed
from the new parking structure to
the existing PCI Medical Pavilion.
