DESTINATIONS<br />
Britannia mountain hut, Saas-Fee (3,030 m a.s.l.)<br />
Built in 1912 by British members of the Alpenclub (hence the<br />
name) the Britannia mountain hut is one of the most visited SAC<br />
mountain huts in all of the Alps and is the starting point for the<br />
famous Haute Route and other high-Alpine trails. It is situated<br />
about a 90-minute walk from the Felskinn mountain station.<br />
Please note: The Britannia mountain hut is open from March.<br />
Please contact the hut warden or the tourist office<br />
(p. 10/11) in advance to find out the exact opening<br />
times.<br />
Furggstalden, Saas-Almagell (1,893 m a.s.l.)<br />
From Saas-Almagell you can take the chairlift up to the region’s<br />
oldest hamlet, Furggstalden. You can descend back to Saas-<br />
Almagell either on foot or by scooter.<br />
Hannig, Saas-Fee (2,336 m a.s.l.)<br />
The sunny slopes of the Hannig with its spacious sun terrace are the<br />
perfect place for complete relaxation. It’s also a great place for kids,<br />
with a playground, scooter bikes, goats and wild marmots they can<br />
be hand feed.<br />
Heidbodme, Saas-Almagell (2,400 m a.s.l.)<br />
A truly unique location whose beauty will take your breath away.<br />
The Heidbodme viewing point rewards visitors with unrivalled panoramic<br />
views over the Mischabel and Monte Rosa massifs. Opening<br />
hours coincide with the Heidbodme chairlift timetable (p. 26/27).<br />
Hohsaas, Saas-Grund (3,200 m a.s.l.)<br />
There are 18 good reasons for going to Hohsaas: Saas-Fee’s 18<br />
peaks of 4,000 meter or more can be viewed from the spectacular<br />
themed trail.<br />
Längfluh, Saas-Fee (2,870m m a.s.l.)<br />
You will never be as close to the glacier as you are on Längfluh.<br />
The tall glacial crevasses are absolutely captivating and they are<br />
majestically crowned by the highest mountains in Switzerland<br />
above them.<br />
Mittelallalin, Saas-Fee (3,500 m a.s.l.)<br />
The world’s highest revolving restaurant, largest ice grotto and highest<br />
underground train all in one place! No stay in Saas-Fee is<br />
complete without a trip to the Mittelallalin.<br />
Tip: The children park «Glacier Fun» (p. 62)<br />
Please note: Travel on the Mittelallalin’s Metro Alpin funicular is<br />
not included with your Citizens’ Pass.<br />
Plattjen, Saas-Fee (2,571 m a.s.l.)<br />
The six-person gondola lift takes you to the Plattjen area and the<br />
nearby viewpoint, which offers spectacular views of the Mattmark<br />
reservoir and the Mischabel massif. If you’re lucky, you might even<br />
spot some ibexes or chamois.<br />
Spielboden, Saas-Fee (2,448 m a.s.l.)<br />
Up here, you’ll also find our tame marmots who always look forward<br />
to getting a little treat. The only mountain gourmet restaurant<br />
in the region takes care of the physical well-being of our “two-legged"<br />
visitors<br />
Stausee Mattmark, Saas-Almagell (2,200 m a.s.l.)<br />
This is the location of Europe’s largest earth dam with its modern<br />
panorama restaurant. Once you’re on the 780m long dam, you<br />
can walk around the lake or set off on the hike to the Monte-Moro<br />
pass.<br />

CABLEWAYS<br />
Kreuzboden, Saas-Grund (2,397 m a.s.l.)<br />
There’s something for everyone on Kreuzboden – from climbing,<br />
hiking on the Wellness and Pleasure Trail, to relaxing in beautiful<br />
surroundings on the panorama terrace. And thanks to the Hohsi<br />
Land play area and the petting zoo, kids are not short of things to<br />
do either.<br />
