Exodus 20:9-11<br />

"Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:<br />

but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord Thy<br />

God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son,<br />

nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant,<br />

nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:<br />

for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the<br />

sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh<br />

day: wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and<br />

hallowed it."<br />

Six signified the completion of work days. i.e., in six<br />

days, work was complete.<br />

Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all<br />

the host of them.<br />

Man was created on the 6th day (Gen 1:26,31).<br />

God flooded the whole world when Noah was six hundred<br />

years old (Gen 7:6,11).<br />

Abraham interceded on behalf of the people of Sodom 6<br />

times (Gen 18:16-33).<br />

Leah had 6 sons (Gen 30:19-20)(Gen 35:23).<br />

The Israelites were to gather Manna for 6 days (Ex<br />

16:5,22,29).<br />

The 6th Commandment is "thou shalt not murder" (Ex<br />

20:13)(Deut 5:17).<br />

A Hebrew slave was only to work 6 years and then be<br />

released (Ex 21:2)(Deut 15:12.18)(Jer 34:14).<br />
