According to Rabbinic tradition man is given two inclination.<br />
Yetser Hara is the inclinations based on the individual self.<br />
Self confidence, ability of push through actions, eat good<br />
food, drink have home ans good choice of sexual partners<br />
etc are basic to Hara,<br />
Yetse Hatov is the inclinations for doing good, caring for<br />
others and the environment etc.<br />
Yetser Hara is usually translated as “evil inclinations” and<br />
Yetser Hatov as “good inclinations” though it gives a wrong<br />
interpretation to poor Hara. A proper balance between<br />
individuls and society brings a good society. An organ<br />
which functions efffectively without becoming cancer<br />
provides a good body.<br />
The ancient Sages decided that they were going to capture<br />
and imprison the Yetzer HaRa. So they ordered a complete<br />
fast of three day….whereupon he [the Yetzer] was<br />
surrendered to them. He came forth from the Holy of Holies<br />
like a fiery lion…. He [the Yetzer] said to them, “Realize that<br />
if you kill me, the world is finished.” They held him for three<br />
