What will I learn?<br />

On this practical course you<br />

will cover many different areas<br />

including painting, drawing,<br />

sculpture, graphics <strong>and</strong> printmaking<br />

as well as how to create<br />

design using digital software.<br />

You’ll start to build a portfolio of<br />

work <strong>and</strong> develop the skills <strong>and</strong><br />

confidence required to progress on<br />

to our Level 2 Art & Design course.<br />

Level 1 Art & Design or equivalent<br />

or some GCSE grades at D/3 or<br />

above, preferably including English<br />

<strong>and</strong> maths.<br />

What will I learn?<br />

Do you fancy yourself as the next<br />

Tracey Emin, Mike Mignola, Banksy<br />

or even a tattoo artist?<br />

Whatever your artistic taste,<br />

this course will help you develop<br />

the skills you need to be<br />

successful. Taught by professional<br />

subject specialists, you’ll gain a<br />

range of drawing, painting <strong>and</strong><br />

design skills <strong>and</strong> complete a variety<br />

of practical projects, including a<br />

self-directed project.<br />

Confidence, motivation <strong>and</strong><br />

vocational skills will be developed<br />

throughout, to give you that edge to<br />

help you progress to our level 3 or<br />

Four GCSE grades at C/4 or above,<br />

or a Level 2 Diploma at Merit or<br />

above, preferably in appropriate<br />

subject areas. Level 2 English/<br />

literacy is essential. Level 2 maths/<br />

numeracy is desirable. Students<br />

without these will be encouraged to<br />

study them alongside this course.<br />

What will I learn?<br />

This course covers painting,<br />

sculpture, textiles, fine art,<br />

photography, multi-media, graphic<br />

design <strong>and</strong> illustration, helping you<br />

to develop your skills across a broad<br />

range of techniques.<br />

You’ll choose one to specialise in for<br />

your final major project. Industry<br />

focused, you’ll complete work<br />

experience <strong>and</strong> commercial briefs<br />

with our creative business partners<br />

<strong>and</strong> have the opportunity to have<br />

your work exhibited.<br />

Foundation Studies in<br />

1 year<br />

Entry requirements<br />

Four GCSE grades at grade C/4<br />

or above, preferably including<br />

English <strong>and</strong> maths or equivalent. A<br />

relevant qualification at Level 2 or<br />

appropriate experience would also<br />

be helpful.<br />

What will I learn?<br />

This course is the first step if you<br />

want to go to university or want a<br />

career in art <strong>and</strong> design <strong>and</strong> has<br />

been designed to equip you with<br />

the skills you need to compete in<br />

today’s thriving creative industries.<br />

You'll explore a range of art<br />

<strong>and</strong> design disciplines including<br />

printmaking, digital media <strong>and</strong> life<br />

drawing. You'll write <strong>and</strong> deliver your<br />

own project brief, build a portfolio<br />

of work <strong>and</strong> take part in a final year<br />

exhibition.<br />

Multimedia, VFX <strong>and</strong> Animation<br />

or equivalent, ideally including<br />

maths <strong>and</strong> English.<br />

What will I learn?<br />

Explore the exciting world of<br />

interactive <strong>and</strong> digital design,<br />

motion graphics, visual effects <strong>and</strong><br />

animation <strong>and</strong> prepare for a career<br />

in this cutting edge industry.<br />

You’ll work on a range of<br />

commercial commissions, build a<br />

portfolio of work to use at job or<br />

university interviews <strong>and</strong> complete<br />

work experience.<br />

Photography<br />

Level 2 & 3<br />

Duration<br />

1 year (Level 2) <strong>and</strong><br />

2 years (Level 3)<br />

Entry requirements<br />

Level 2: A vocational qualification<br />

at Level 1 or some GCSE grades at<br />

D/3 or above, preferably including<br />

English <strong>and</strong> maths.<br />

Level 3: Four GCSE grades at C/4 or<br />

above, or a Level 2 Diploma at Merit<br />

or above, preferably in appropriate<br />

subject areas. Level 2 English/<br />

literacy is essential. Level 2 maths/<br />

numeracy is desirable.<br />

What will I learn?<br />

You'll learn how to use a DSLR <strong>and</strong><br />

how to compose <strong>and</strong> construct<br />

images as well as manipulating<br />

<strong>and</strong> editing photographs using<br />

professional software. Including<br />

practical, theoretical <strong>and</strong> contextual<br />

work, you will be encouraged to<br />

take a broad view of photography<br />

<strong>and</strong> complete a range of projects.<br />

Fashion & Textiles<br />

Level 3<br />

2 years<br />

subject areas. Level 2 English/<br />

What will I learn?<br />

In year one, you’ll explore a wide<br />

range of textile techniques,<br />

research the industry, learn about<br />

traditional <strong>and</strong> contemporary<br />

design <strong>and</strong> work to a range of<br />

creative briefs to develop your<br />

design skills. Year two, you’ll fine<br />

tune your technique to develop<br />

your own style <strong>and</strong> build a portfolio<br />

of professional work to showcase<br />

your talent at job or university<br />

interviews.<br />
