Medicine of the Prophet

All\h I, through his infinite grace and compassion has created a cure
for every illness and disease. The Prophet r taught us the cures for
many illnesses, but as more illnesses appear, it is our responsibility to
find their cures. Thus, Isl\m does not disapprove of scientific research
into medications, but rather emphasises its importance.
Finally, it should be constantly kept in mind that cure is in the hands of
All\h I and He cures whom He wills, when He wills. Therefore, even
though the correct cure may be found, All\h I will only remove a
disease or illness if He wills. This explains why scientists say a person
has a strong/good/average chance of being cured.
The Causes of Disease
Prevention of disease and illness is better than any cure. This fact was
long ago taught to us by the Prophet r through his blessed teachings
and noble habits. According to many scholars of ^ibb, there are six
major causes of disease/ill health, identifying them will help prevent
the spread of disease. They are:
1. Air
2. Food and Drink
3. Bodily Movement and Rest
4. Wakefulness and Sleep
5. Emotions
6. Emission and Retention
These are the six main causes of illness and disease. Other factors such
as age, gender, habits, occupation, environment, etc also play a role as
causes, but will not be discussed in detail here.
