AUSTRALIA ADVANCES CHANGE:
FROM MINING TO DINING
A multitude of people attended
a lunch meeting at Sydney’s
Randwick Racecourse on
Saturday to discuss China’s
demand for Australian produce
and Australia’s desire to supply
it.
This event was hosted by the
Australian Turf Club (ATC),
as part of its inaugural Chinese
Racing Festival, a new strategy
to attract the lucrative Chinese
market for its long term viability.
According to the ATC Executive
Darren Pierce, Chinese like
luxury experiences and fashion.
While watching the racetrack,
Australia-China Primary
Industries Council headed
the discussions between the
two countries’ government
dignitaries and businessmen,
they also included Federal Trade
Minister, Andrew Robb.
Since the mining resource
industry in Australia has come
to a halt, a kick-start for the
Australian economy is needed.
Their next best bet is agriculture.
According to organizer Edmund
So, Australian farmers have the
capacity to produce more but
aren’t, because they don’t know
how to sell overseas. He added
that the key concerns from the
Chinese perspective were secure
supply chains so buyers can
depend on a constant flow of
produce and secure prices.
This will be a great opportunity
for the Australian economy. More
job opportunities will be available
for the masses.
