Having spent the better part of an extended 3
day weekend with the rather ‘tamer and milder’
(but pretty darn impressive nonetheless) sibling
the Colorado 2.5, it’s a given that we already
had a fair enough idea of what to expect with
the range topping Colorado 2.8 High Country; or
so we thought.
Indeed we’d even go as far as to say this: for the
imposing, hulking new Colorado, for all its might
inasmuch its considerable girth and dimensions
et al, it all but reafrms its exalted and fearsome
position with the bigger and more powerful 2.8
powertrain. At the heart of Colorado revs a 2.8L
Duramax engine. With 193 hp at 3,600 rpm and
500 nm torque at 2,000 rpm, the fuel-efcient,
4-cylinder 2.8L turbo-diesel powerplant delivers
dynamic and responsive performance across
different applications.

All that juicy and creamy torque delivered
by Colorado’s sprightly, spirited and efcient
powerplant is mated to a smooth shifting
6-Speed Automatic or Manual Transmission. As
per the norm in a four wheel drive pickup, the
Colorado High Country allows easy switching
between 4WD and 2WD modes in a ash via a
rotary dial placed just rearward of the shifter. In
4WD mode, Colorado delivers additional traction
for steep, muddy and bumpy roads. For everyday
driving conditions, engaging 2WD provides more
fuel economy and efciency.
When it comes to all-round performance,
Colorado packs a punch. Its impressive balance
