Amicus June 2017

In the build-up to the main event, thousands of runners and supporters
visited the OMTOM Expo at the CTICC in Cape Town, and on Friday
14 April, 800 people tackled the Trail Run, 366 the Friendship Run and
6 000 the Fun Runs. There was extensive coverage on SABC2 from
05:30 on race morning and the event was live-streamed via SABC2 on
the OMTOM website, with various live crossings on a number of SABC
radio stations and on Facebook.
As always, Mutualites embraced the race and raised over R7 000 for
charity on Takkie Day, and 350 runners and their families were hosted
in the employee hospitality marquee overlooking the finish line.

#GOGREEN was developed by Wildlands
and supported by Old Mutual. It aims to
provide a practical solution for collecting
waste from athletes and spectators at
endurance events, while educating them
about not littering, as well as recycling
and upcycling. All waste collected will be
upcycled into Green Desks to help address
the desk shortage in many underprivileged
schools in South Africa.
At OMTOM this year:
