Meet Lori Ross
The Voice of SWLA family is
happy to welcome Lori Ross
as our new Sales and Marketing
Representative. Lori is a Lake
Charles native, LaGrange High
School and McNeese State
University alumna, and a former
case manager with Lake Charles
Memorial Hospital.
For the last few years, Lori has
been a stay-at-home mom, a
job that she says is the busiest
and most fulfilling role she
has ever had. Lori had her
first acquaintance with The
Voice when she called our
editor Brenda Hill in the hopes
of advertising her brother’s
business. From that one phone
call, a friendship grew and
Brenda asked Lori to join The
Voice in a part-time position.
Lori is excited that she is able to
step out as a businesswoman
while continuing to support
and care for her husband
Jonathan and their three boys
Jayden, Ryan, and Ashton.
She loves leading clients and
helping them build their brand.
With her past sales experience,
outstanding communication
skills, and natural ability to build
relationships, Lori is the perfect
addition to The Voice!
In her spare time, Lori enjoys
spending time with her family,
supporting her brother, local
artist Jamar Simien, and she
enjoys reading motivational and
education books. One hobby
that Lori has is making jewelry.
She loves creativity and is happy
to share that with her children
as their first teacher.

Meet Emily Ashworth
Health Wealth and Wellness
Born and raised in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Emily Steward Ashworth has
been a Registered Nurse for 17 years. She graduated from McNeese State
University in 2000 with her Associates Degree in Nursing, and again in 2010
with her Bachelor’s in Nursing.
Emily is honored to contribute her knowledge and nursing experience as
a free-lance writer to The Voice of Southwest Louisiana. Her goal in the
monthly column, “Health, Wealth and Wellness” is to inform, educate and
empower the readers of SWLA and the surrounding areas on how to live,
look and feel their best within our unique lifestyles.
She has worked in various opportunities, over these 17 years, and gained
much experience as a travel nurse working in Texas and California, in
addition to our local hospitals in Lake Charles. Her experience in schoolbased
clinics and community settings has been very valuable.
Her goal as a writer in the “Health, Wealth and Wellness” column is to
educate, empower and inform the readers of Southwest Louisiana and the
surrounding areas on how to live looking and feeling their best.
