fun and learning to love our<br />

environment, especially our<br />

country’s trees, at Streetly<br />

Methodist Church’s Eco Festival.<br />

Venture outside for woodland craft activities, survival<br />

skills training and rides on a miniature railway, as well as<br />

presentations by the RSPB, National Trust and Sutton<br />

Beekeepers. Indoors there will be art and music and flower<br />

displays, and the church’s scout group will be serving<br />

barbecued food all afternoon. All are welcome; entrance<br />

for children is free, with voluntary donation for adults.<br />

Visitors can also take part in a photography competition on<br />

What: Lichfield Heritage Weekend<br />

Heritage Weekend takes place every year on Samuel<br />

Johnson’s Birthday to celebrate Lichfield’s rich and<br />

varied history. Heritage attractions throw their<br />

doors open for free, together with some historical<br />

buildings that aren’t usually open to the public.<br />

This year, the celebrations are centred around 300<br />

years of David Garrick, actor, theatre manager and<br />

playwright. Highlights include Dr Samuel Johnson’s<br />

308th birthday celebrations at The Samuel Johnson<br />

Birthplace Museum, a Georgian garden party at<br />

Erasmus Darwin House, and Intimate Theatre’s look<br />

at the life of David Garrick at The George Hotel.<br />
