Lou looked over to the costume rail and in her mind’s eye she fabulous costumes hanging there, neatly arranged : the hairy wolfee outfit, a silky red cloak, a funny old grandma’s cap. Perhaps casting Abby of all people as Shimmermist was a terrible mistake. ‘Let’s practise the woodland creatures chant again,’ suggested Beaky. ‘We really need to get some much better sound effects than we did just now. It sounded a bit weedy - not at all what I had imagined.’ Beaky tapped her nose and looked at Abby who looked crossly back. ‘Good idea,’ said Cressida. ‘Whenever Rose says ‘this place is full of the weirdest woodland creatures’ we all have to make a sound.’ ‘What sort of sound?’ ‘A weird woodland creature sort of sound.’ 43
