The setting is truly breath-taking, surrounded by pristine forests<br />

and oceans. The landscape is outstanding; from rugged to<br />

serene for adrenaline-filled and tranquil adventures too. Hillary<br />

<strong>Outdoor</strong>s has an unbelievable 230 hectare private property<br />

and secluded bay located at Karaka.<br />

The <strong>Great</strong> <strong>Barrier</strong> <strong>Island</strong> adventure is underpinned by the<br />

strength and determination that drove Sir Edmund Hillary to<br />

triumph on his journey to the summit of Mount Everest.<br />

Students learn how to work closely together, as they navigate<br />

the coastline, explore the forests, learn how to kayak as well<br />

as coasteering, go sailing, rock climbing, abseiling and surf<br />

kayaking! The ultimate adventure quest awaits them.<br />

The Hauraki Gulf is the ideal environment for students to<br />

learn the dynamics and advantages of team work, achieve a<br />

greater insight into the roles they take on in their teams and<br />

have the<br />

chance to develop outdoor skills.<br />

Students will also learn about teamwork, outdoor skills,<br />

responsibility, leadership, perseverance as well as their impact on<br />

those around them. Through the activities, young adventurers<br />

will strengthen connections to themselves, their peers and the<br />

What can you expect?<br />

Determination and strength of character will form the basis of<br />

this elite experience. They will become culturally aware, work<br />

Trust and Team Building<br />

As they make the most of the outstanding<br />

local area, students go through a series of<br />

trust and team building activities as well<br />

as learning to solve problems, no matter<br />

how challenging.<br />

Steep Creeping<br />

Here everyone works together, to lead<br />

their peers down the Okiwi Stream,<br />

abseiling down cliffs and importantly<br />

learning how to take safety precautions<br />

for the benef it of all around them.<br />

Sea Kayaking<br />

The sea awaits patiently for students, as<br />

they learn the basics of sea kayaking. They<br />

will learn how to gear up for kayaking,<br />

how to be safe in and around their kayaks<br />

and the sea too.<br />

Coasteering<br />

Green <strong>Island</strong> is the destination of the day,<br />

as they sea kayak out to this impressive<br />

island and learn how to navigate their way<br />

around rocky coastlines. Climbing,<br />

jumping and swimming will take pride<br />

of place on this adventurous day.<br />

Rock climbing ,<br />

Abseiling and via-ferrata<br />

Students take to the skies abseiling,<br />

feeling exposed, which allows them to<br />

conquer mind over matter. They learn to<br />

trust themselves and team mates too. They<br />

will also rock climb. The via-ferrata is the<br />

next challenge as they clip themselves<br />

onto steel cables and negotiate their way<br />

to the top of Three Kings.<br />

Bush Skill <strong>Adventure</strong>s<br />

Here they are the masters of their own<br />

adventures, as they explore the stunning<br />

natural environments around <strong>Great</strong><br />

<strong>Barrier</strong> <strong>Island</strong>, learning the way of the<br />

bush, exploring the flora and fauna and<br />

learning important bush skills.<br />

Expeditions<br />

An exciting overnight camping trip awaits,<br />

as students explore the rugged coastline<br />

of <strong>Great</strong> <strong>Barrier</strong> <strong>Island</strong> once again, taking<br />

advantage of the world away from the<br />

hustle and bustle of a city. They will stop<br />

to relax and indulge in a bit of fishing<br />

along the way.<br />

Snorkeling<br />

Students kayak up to rocky shorelines,<br />

near beaches, where marine life is<br />

abundant. The waters are calm, at an<br />

overhead depth. The more challenging<br />

snorkeling areas will only be utilized for<br />

experienced snorkelers.<br />

Sailing<br />

Who doesn’t like to sail along the glorious<br />

waters in a bay? This is an amazing<br />

experience, where students learn to sail<br />

on a self-bailing two person dinghy. If<br />

they’re not experienced, there’s an<br />

outboard powered support vessel right<br />

on hand to save the day.<br />

A Day in the Life<br />

<strong>Adventure</strong> awaits<br />

• 6:30am –Wake up to take part in kitchen duty<br />

responsibilities. Preparation, clean-up and preparing<br />

lunch are all included.<br />

• 7:30am – A hearty breakfast is served.<br />

• 8am to 9am – Housekeeping duties.<br />

• 9am to 5pm – <strong>Outdoor</strong>s to the great wilderness. Lunch and<br />

snacks are served.<br />

• 6pm – Dinner is served, sampling some New Zealand<br />

delights.<br />

• 8pm – Evening activities are arranged to encourage<br />

relaxation, bonding and fun.<br />

• 10:30pm – Lights out.<br />

• When overnighting, they will be away from the center with<br />

their own dedicated and knowledgeable instructor and<br />

experience a night under the magical New Zealand sky.<br />

Hillary <strong>Outdoor</strong>s has a Safety Management Plan that everyone<br />

has a responsibility towards including instructors and students<br />

too. They take safety very seriously so that each and every<br />

student will experience the best out of this amazing adventure.<br />

Everyone commits and complies with the safety regulations<br />

and staff are all physically and mentally fit to do their jobs. All<br />

staff are trained and have the necessary skills to ensure the<br />

safety of program participants. They leave no stone unturned<br />

as they seek out knowledge of weather conditions, the<br />

environment, any access problems and will put a stop to<br />

activities if there are any dangers lurking.<br />

This amazing adventure that your teenager will embark upon<br />

is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will never be forgotten,<br />

and there will be no regrets as you watch your young student<br />

develop and grow emotionally and physically. They will<br />

experience real-life adventures that will lead them on a journey<br />

of discovering themselves!<br />

50% payable on booking, balance due 30 days prior to arrival date. Credit card bookings incur an additional 5% booking fee. Int ernational bank deposit incurs a<br />

3-5% bank fee. All prices exclusive of New Zealand Goods and Services Tax of 15%. <strong>Package</strong>s do not include travel to and from NZ or throughout NZ. Applicants<br />

must have parental consent and medical consent. Full and comprehensive travel insurance recommended.<br />

Booking and Payment<br />

On confi rmation of a final outdoor adventure booking, the client agrees to pay a 50% non-refundable booking fee. This will allow Black Label Experience Ltd to make the<br />

necessary bookings for the outdoor adventure to ensure firm bookings are held for the client. The final non-refundable payment of the final balance is due one month before<br />

the outdoor adventure or on arrival in New Zealand. Black Label Experience Ltd has the right to cancel any arrangements and bookings made for the client if full payment<br />

is not received before the event or arrival in country and will treat the trip/event as a canceled booking until full payment is received.
