Welcome to the Bay of Islands Youth Adventure Program. This

Stunning Bay of Islands Adventure Experience
Students will be encouraged to take part in a number of activities
which we have specif ically created to help them on a
journey of personal growth and development, all set in magnificent
surroundings.
The highly trained staff will facilitate an exciting adventure
program, where students will learn to f ish, kayak, sail, learn
about the local f lora and fauna, take part in an overnight
camping experience on a nearby private island, just for them.
Over the six days students will learn to do everything for themselves,
allowing them to become more self-sufficient, as they
pitch a tent, catch and cook their own f ish and much more.
The exciting adventure program will help them develop in
many ways allowing them to experience a whole new world
of possibilities that they can carry through life.
At the end of the week students will leave the Bay of Islands
with memories and values they will keep for years to come.

About Bay of Islands 6 day Youth Adventure Program
The Bay of Islands is a subtropical micro-region known for its
stunning beauty and history. Students can expect golden
beaches, secluded coves, tranquil harbors, warm waters, dramatic
coastlines and a spectacular forest, mixed with local history.
The Landing is a place like no other which makes the adventure
all the more exciting.
The focus of this program is about allowing the adventurous
nature of students’ personalities to shine, while they learn about
the environment, the flora and fauna and connect to nature
in a rare way.
This program is a unique 6 day adventure set in the stunning Bay
of Islands which will enrich the lives of students through various
thrilling and interesting activities that they take part in, not to
mention the stunning accommodation at The Landing to make
it extra special.
Students will also become citizens of the world as they learn
about a different culture and experience it first-hand through
experiences and interactions with local Maori. This is an adven
ture filled experience, rich in culture which will help your
teenager navigate their way through life, feeling more confident,
understanding the impact that they have on the environment
and learning important values that will help them live rich and
fulfilled lives.

What can you expect?
Students will experience luxury, comfort and style in the stunning
surroundings of The Landing. There are three outstanding
residences called The Boathouse, Cooper Residence and
Gabriel Residence.
They will take part in once-in-a-lifetime experiences that will
help them to learn in new ways. The program has been specifically
created to help them learn to work in teams, meet new
people, become more independent, experience the world
through new eyes and become more culturally aware.
They don’t need to be extreme adventurers to take part in this
luxurious experience. They will experience nature, and all that
she has to offer, making them aware of the importance of
protecting our natural heritage, an important skill to carry
with them for life. This experience will help students to grow
all-round.
All students will experience a whole new way of
living, as they explore the scenic Bay of Islands on
the North Island of New Zealand.
Students will come back refreshed, reenergized, and happy as
well as being ready to take on the world with their new found
confidence and healthy self-esteem.

What will they get out of it?
Your young students will experience nothing like this, anywhere

These adventures are all about learning self-sufficiency, new
skills, adventure as well as outdoor education.
They will develop emotionally and physically, as well as understanding
the differences in cultures around the world. They
will be more independent, be able to solve problems on their
own, and learn to appreciate the environment around them.
That confidence and healthy self-esteem will help them to face
the world in a more positive way and set them up for future

Day 1
Arrive at Bay of Islands
Students will be met at Kerikeri Airport by their guide and
transferred to their stunning accommodation at The Landing.
The students will be welcomed with a Powhiri, a traditional
welcoming ceremony which includes speeches, dancing,
singing and finally the hongi - a traditional Māori greeting
which is done by pressing one’s nose and forehead (at the same
time) to another person when they meet.
This will be followed by an introduction to The Landing staff
with drinks and nibbles.
Once settled into the accommodation the students will enjoy
lunch and a guided tour of the property with a brief history of
the surroundings.
Kia Ora – a greeting that wishes you good health. Your
young adventurers have arrived, and will be welcomed
to the Bay of Islands.
This is followed by some free time to unwind, unpack and to
use the facilities on the property. The evening will be spent
enjoying a fabulous dinner and then preparing for the morning
fishing trip.

Day 2
Catch and Cook
After breakfast the students will prepare sandwiches and snacks
for their exciting fishing trip.
Students will get to go fishing in the beautiful environment
with our onsite fisherman, where they will have a full educational
experience on the what, where, when and how of fishing.
They will practice their skills to perfection and then after catching
enough fish to feed the team they will learn how to clean,
fillet and prepare the fish for cooking.
Back at The Landing, the well-renowned chefs will give students
instructions and help with the cooking of the fish. They will
then all get to enjoy their catch of the day.
Once they’ve tasted their own creations, they will sit around
an open fire pit and toast marshmallows, while listening to a
local historian tell stories, myths and legends that will create
an interest and mystery about their surroundings.
Through these magical tales, students will be ready and willing
to explore The Landing in every way possible, leading them
on a journey of learning and adventure.

Day 3
Explore the Landing
After breakfast the students will prepare sandwiches for the
hiking trip. The nursery manager will lead students on a hike
of discovery around The Landing, while they learn some bush
craft skills and all about the New Zealand surroundings. As
students roam around the property they will be soaking in all
they see. Next is a stop on a scenic hillside for a picnic lunch,
where students can marvel at their surroundings.
A night time adventure awaits young students after dinner. A
Kiwi spotting walk around The Landing grounds with Tim
the Kiwi Foundation trained guide will be their adventure for
the evening.
Tim will first educate students about the birds, their environment
and natural behaviors. Then all will head out with
torches, as quietly as possible and walk the areas of the
property that the kiwis are likely to be spotted. Of course this
is dependent on the moon as well as the weather.
After hiking they will have afternoon tea followed by swimming,
snorkeling, stand up paddle boards and kayaks.
When they return to The Landing kitchen, each student is
given specific duties for the preparation of dinner.

Day 4
Maori Cultural Experiences
After breakfast the students will catch a water
taxi to Waitangi and they will spend the day at
the historic “Treaty Grounds of Waitangi”.
Students will learn about Maori culture, history and embrace
their traditions. A hangi, where meat and vegetables are cooked
on hot rocks, will be their culinary delight for the day. Another
treat lays in store as students experience the wonders of local
craft making. This is followed by taking a water taxi to the
Horse Trek’n Paihia site for an adventurous two hour horse
trek, where they will get the opportunity to experience more
of their natural surroundings on horseback. Once the trek is
finished they will catch a water taxi back to The Landing.
Once again, students are called upon in the kitchen to help
with dinner preparation. After dinner, preparations start for
an exciting camping trip the following day. Day packs, tents
and gear that are needed will all be prepared. There will be no
facilities, all water, food and supplies will need to be carried
on their backs to survive a night in the wilderness as a group.
There will be rules, maps and instructions issued. Students
need to decide on what food to take, how it will be cooked
and plan down to the last detail exactly what they will need
in order to eat the meal.

Day 5
Camping Day
As soon as they have completed their hike and arrive at the
camp site, they will all need to pitch their tents.
This is followed by a scavenger hunt and plenty of orienteering
activities around the campsite. Students will cook their own
dinners over an open fire and learn the ways of living outdoors
and surviving.
The fun doesn’t end there. After dinner, all students will
prepare a skit which they will perform for one and all the
following day.
Each skit needs to focus on what they have learned and the
experiences they’ve had at The Landing. This is an
exciting part of the trip, as student’s get to think about how
they have perceived their experiences and what they’ve
learned and gained out of it.
'The camping day is a chance to bond as a group whilst enjoying
the amazing sounds of nature and their glorious surroundings they
wake up to!

Day 6
Departure Day
After breakfast students will pack up all their gear and tents
and hike back to the Residences at The Landing.
Once back at The Landing there will be a lunch for all
partic- ipants and families. After lunch the students will
perform the skit that they prepared the night before, to
share with their families. Once they’re all packed up they
will be transferred to the Kerikeri Airport.
Your young adventurers will have experienced the world in a
whole new way, learning about nature, culture, history and
how to be more self-sufficient.
This is a once in a lifetime experience that will teach
them the ways of the world beyond their normal
day-to-day lives and open their eyes to what’s out there.
These experiences will have helped them to understand the
importance of clear communication, working together in teams,
understanding a new culture and living in peace and quiet out
in nature. Their experiences will help them to be more
self-suf- ficient, more confident as well as giving them the gift
of being able to believe in themselves and their abilities.

Terms and Conditions
50% payable on booking, balance due 30 days prior to arrival date. Credit card bookings incur an additional 5% booking fee. International bank deposit incurs a
3-5% bank fee. All prices exclusive of New Zealand Goods and Services Tax of 15%. Packages do not include travel to and from NZ or throughout NZ. Applicants
must have parental consent and medical consent. Full and comprehensive travel insurance recommended.
Booking and Payment
On confirmation of a final outdoor adventure booking, the client agrees to pay a 50% non-refundable booking fee. This will allow Black Label Experience Ltd to make
the necessary bookings for the outdoor adventure to ensure firm bookings are held for the client. The final non-refundable payment of the final balance is due one month
before the outdoor adventure or on arrival in New Zealand. Black Label Experience Ltd has the right to cancel any arrangements and bookings made for the client if full
payment
is not received before the event or arrival in country and will treat the trip/event as a canceled booking until full payment is received.
