Fall into fun!
It’s that’s time of year again when
leaves crunch underneath your feet,
cool air really settles in – at last –
and pumpkin spice is everywhere.
This fall also brings the 50th anniversary
of Circle Of Concern [tickets
for the nonprofit’s gala, Nov.
4, are on sale now], West County
Restaurant Week benefiting Friends
of Kids with Cancer, Hot Dog! It’s
Chili in Ellisville and the grand reopening
of the Daniel Boone branch
of the St. Louis County Library.
Pumpkinland is in full swing on
weekends at Thies Farms in Maryland
Heights and pumpkin patches
have sprung up at the outlet malls
in Chesterfield Valley. Hayrides are
traversing St. Louis County parks
and fall festivals and Oktoberfests
are taking over church parking lots.
Scarecrows have invaded Eureka
and little goblins will soon be
assuming their secret identities and
heading out to snag some treats.
In other words, get out and have
some fun!
West Newsmagazine is the proud
community partner of many of
these events, so you’ll be able to
read all about them over the next
few weeks.
Like so many in the area, we’re
especially excited about the reopening
of the Daniel Boone branch
of the St. Louis County Library and
the West Newsmagazine Crooked
House. On Oct. 25, after the ribbon
is cut and the doors are flung open,
we hope you’ll join us inside the
library to explore the branch’s new
Discovery Zone, Teen Space, Business
Center and more. Next week, in
the Oct. 11 issue, we’ll bring you all
the details, which you can read while
enjoying great food at local eateries
during Restaurant Week, Oct. 9-15.
Speaking of Restaurant Week,
check out the article on page 19 to
learn who’s participating and how
you can get a great deal for a great
cause.
Also in this issue, you can learn
the story behind Eureka’s Scarecrow
Festival, taking place now
through Oct. 31. Be sure to get out
and vote for your favorite one. A
map to help you find all 98 scarecrows,
including ours, is online at
eurekascarecrowfestival.com.
In the Oct. 18 issue, we’ll take a
look at the past, present and future
of Circle Of Concern. Before then,
we’d love to hear from you! Share
your appreciation for Circle and
your memories of it. So many local
volunteers and leaders have played
a role in making the nonprofit all
that it is today. Send your letters
and memories to editor@newsmagazinenetwork.com.
End the month with a piping
bowl of chili while enjoying dogs
dressed in costumes. Where else
but in Ellisville, of course. On
Friday, Oct. 27, it’s Hot Dog! It’s
Chili in Ellisville. One night only,
but so much fun!
Don’t forget to share your events
with us through our online event
calendar [you can submit events
from our homepage] or by sending
all the details to events@newsmagazinenetwork.com.
And be sure
to share your fall photos with us on
our Facebook page. If you share
your favorite fall photo with the
editor, it just might end up in print
as photo of the week.
